IMMERSIVE DOCUMENTARY EXPERIENCE FOR CULTURAL HERITAGE

Els Quatre Gats was an immersive documentary experience developed as part of the ViVIM research project, a collaborative initiative involving cultural, media, and technology partners focused on the future of immersive storytelling and shared virtual experiences.

The project transformed the iconic modernist café into an interactive virtual environment, allowing multiple users to explore a digitally reconstructed version of the historic space while discovering stories, characters, and cultural references from Barcelona’s modernist period.

Combining 360º video, photogrammetry, CGI environments, and real-time virtual reality technologies, the experience created a social and narrative-driven journey through one of the city's most emblematic cultural landmarks.

My contribution focused on 3D production and visual development, supporting the creation of immersive environments, spatial storytelling, and the overall artistic coherence of the experience.

The project explored how virtual reality and emerging media can be used not only to preserve cultural heritage, but also to create new ways of experiencing collective memory through shared, interactive narratives.
